24 Hour Movie Marathon

There is nothing else quite like it - the unrelenting intensity of the Vendetta Films 24 Hour Movie Marathon. The movies eventually blur together and become torturous, yet I struggle to look away, I don't want to miss out on anything.

I was asked to create a poster for the 11th annual marathon that honoured its' venue - the iconic Hollywood Cinema in Avondale, Auckland.

Personally, I wanted to capture the atmosphere of the marathon. The flickering light of the projector, the lucky punters who snagged beanbag tickets, the space that would become home for one day a year.

I decided to create a cross sectional diorama of the event itself, made possible by the unstoppable force of Godzilla himself. Littered throughout the poster are fun details and scenes that can be discovered by the viewer over time.

Zombies pour on to the street. The bean bag pit is devastated by giant rabbits stampeding from the screen. Meanwhile upstairs I snooze uncomfortably in my seat. See if you can find me. Look close enough and you might even find Wally.
